About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction, to help a person change their behaviour and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills.

Type of Therapy

We provide one-to-one, open-ended or time limited psychodynamic psychotherapy to adults.

Initial consultation

After you contact us, we will call or email you to arrange one or two initial consultations, where we can discuss your needs and the nature of your difficulties. This will help us decide if we could work together therapeutically. This means whether you feel you will be able to bring whatever you need to our sessions and also how our approach could impact your circumstances.

In the initial consultation, we will also talk about the length and frequency of sessions as well as confidentiality, fees and the cancellations policy.

The following bodies regulate our work at The London Psychotherapist and we abide by their ethical Code of Conduct. The London Psychotherapist has full indemnity insurance and is subject to regular strict supervision.
